A moment to reflect on my journey as EUEW President

As my mandate as the President of the European Union of Electrical Wholesalers (EUEW) draws to a close, I would like to take a moment to reflect on our journey together and express my gratitude for the incredible support and dedication shown throughout our time together.

Over the past years, we achieved remarkable milestones, advancing the interests of our industry and fostering collaboration among our members across Europe. Together, we embraced the challenges and opportunities presented to us, consistently striving for excellence and innovation in the electrical wholesale sector.

During my time as President of the EUEW, our community has grown stronger and more united, with a shared vision of promoting sustainable practices, embracing technological advancements, and adapting to a rapidly evolving market. Through our collective efforts, we successfully navigated through turbulent times, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in the face of adversity. I was not fighting these challenges alone. Tapping into their expertise as well as the extended expertise of their members and team members, the EUEW Presidium and EUEW Board of Directors provided invaluable solutions and insights which, keeping the EUEW one step ahead of most partners in its ecosystem. Although not always taking front stage, the strong and firm decisions of the EUEW assembly of members and the impressive experience and expertise of the members of the EUEW Advisory Council have also played a crucial role.

Together with its members, EUEW created an environment of trust, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing. We managed to cultivate a culture of inclusivity and cooperation, recognizing that our collective strength lies in the diversity of our members and their expertise as well as in our ever-stronger collaboration with our peers.

The current EUEW community is a testament to the power of collaboration and the strength that lies within our industry and the wider ecosystem. It is through our shared values and unwavering dedication that we contributed to keeping the electrical wholesalers’ industry strong and unafraid to move forward no matter the circumstances.

As I prepare to pass the torch to the next President, I am confident in the future of the EUEW. Our community is poised to embrace the challenges that lie ahead, leveraging our collective knowledge and expertise to drive positive change and foster continued growth. I have no doubt that under new leadership, the EUEW will continue to flourish, furthering our mission of continuing to be a strong voice for electrical wholesalers in Europe.

Despite what you might imagine, my involvement in this year’s EUEW Business Convention has remained at the highest level. I strongly supported the idea of building the content around the energy transition, a topic which is now more relevant and pressing than ever before. The interest and dedication showcased by EUEW for the past several business conventions are rewarded more and more every year. In terms of registrations, EUEW has managed to achieve receiving the first 100 registrations just one week after their opening was announced and now, a few days before the event we are around 250 delegates ready to meet in Rotterdam. The delegate representation level has transitioned towards senior and very senior level representatives reaching this year a 55% presence of CEO or equivalent, vice-president or senior vice-president or global managers of business lines of both electrical wholesalers and suppliers.

Speaking of the EUEW ongoing partnership with suppliers with the aim of surpassing our delegates’ expectations a bit more with each new event, this year’s EUEW Business Convention is supported by no less than 12 sponsors: ABB, LEDVANCE, Siemens, Eaton, Legrand, Niedax Group, NKT, Phoenix Contact, SLV, TRILUX and MENNEKES. Either returning or new sponsors, it’s their unparalleled support that turns us into master architects of unforgettable experiences.

To each member of the EUEW community, I extend my deepest gratitude for your support and trust during the time of my engagement. It has been a true pleasure and privilege to serve as your President. I am proud of the accomplishments we have achieved together, and I am excited for the future of our industry. I encourage you all to continue supporting and engaging with the EUEW, together we are stronger and better equipped to face whichever challenges might be around the corner. Let us continue to champion sustainability, innovation, and excellence in all that we do.

Thank you for your trust, your dedication, and your unwavering commitment to the EUEW. I am proud to have been a part of this incredible journey, and I look forward to witnessing the continued success and growth of our beloved organization.

And now, for the last time as EUEW President, I am delighted to invite and welcome all delegates of the 2023 EUEW Business Convention. Thomas Rau, well know champion of circular economy will be kicking off the day on June 16, followed by an insight offered by Guillaume Texier, CEO of Rexel, into the latest trends on the electrical wholesale market as well as the outlook for the industry and what should be expected on short and medium-term. For the afternoon, we bring you success stories of electrical wholesalers all over Europe, and proud members of EUEW. Their presentations are meant to serve as starting points for more in-depth discussions and their projects as first-hand experience on how to tackle the issues discussed.

We always take your feedback very seriously, therefore, this year EUEW is delighted to bring you a pilot project for 1-to-1 business meetings. Based on the level of success of our proposed exercise in Rotterdam, we might be looking at similar networking opportunities for future conventions. This year too, endorsed by the unprecedented support of no less than seven social events sponsors and one entertainment sponsor, we will bring you two networking dinners that will captivate your senses, make you doubt the full grasp of your surroundings, challenge your attention, and make you feel like you are taking a short trip to the future.

Embracing a good challenge is part of EUEW's DNA and it will be very difficult for us to outperform ourselves for following events, but we will sure try!
