During the pandemic years 2020 and 2021, many sectors of the Swiss economy were affected by a recession.
The electrical wholesale sector was largely spared thanks to a flourishing construction industry. In 2020, a slight increase in sales of 1.2 percent resulted. In 2021, a new sales record was set with a 9.9 percent increase in sales to 1.196 billion Swiss francs (1.146 billion euros).
Undoubtedly, numerous price increases by suppliers contributed to this development, in particular the copper price trend for wire and cable. But also on balance, the VES wholesalers can look back on an extraordinarily successful business year.
